Prof. Dr. Bastian Wibranek is a professor at Hochschule Darmstadt, serving in the Faculty of Architecture with a specialization in Digital Planning, Construction, Manufacturing, and Design. He is an active member of the European Sustainability Science Laboratory (ESSLab+), where his work contributes to advancing sustainable architectural practices.

His academic and professional trajectory reflects a strong focus on digital architecture and innovative construction techniques. Before joining Hochschule Darmstadt, Prof. Dr. Wibranek was an Assistant Professor of Digital Design and Fabrication at the School of Architecture and Planning at The University of Texas at San Antonio. His research centers on reversible construction methods, emphasizing sustainable and circular approaches to building design.

In 2021, he earned his doctorate from the Technical University of Darmstadt with his dissertation, Design for Reassembly. During his tenure at the Digital Design Unit (2015–2021), he was deeply engaged in research and teaching, focusing on computational design and robotic assembly strategies for architectural applications. From 2012 to 2015, he also taught computational design and robotic fabrication methods at the Institute for Structural Design (ITE) at TU Braunschweig.

He holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Architectural Design from the Städelschule in Frankfurt and a Diploma in Architecture from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund. His professional experience spans collaborations with firms such as 2BXL, OSD, and Schneider + Schumacher, where he contributed to various design projects. He has also worked on exhibition designs and large-scale sculptural installations in collaboration with internationally acclaimed artists Tobias Rehberger and Thomas Bayrle.
